After defeating Alabama in a series and improving its overall record to 33-3, Tennessee remained atop the D1 Baseball Top 25 rankings despite suffering its first loss of the season in the Southeastern Conference on Friday. After their 3-0 victory over Long Beach State, Oregon State climbed to the number two slot in the rankings. Both Oklahoma State and Arkansas moved up one spot to take the third and fourth slots in the rankings, respectively.

The standings of D1 Baseball were thrown into disarray after that, as 15 of the previous week’s Top 25 clubs were defeated on the weekend. After losing two of three at Virginia Tech, Miami was knocked down three places to the fifth spot, and Virginia Tech took advantage of the wreckage to climb 13 spots to the eighth spot. After extending its winning streak to nine games and taking a two-game lead in the Conference USA standings, Southern Miss climbed five spots to take the sixth and final position in the rankings.

After sweeping a three-game series on the road against UCLA, Stanford made the most significant jump this past week, jumping 15 spots to No. 7, while UCLA dropped one spot to No. 13. After getting out to a rocky start, the Cardinal have turned things around and are presently 11-7 in the Pac-12. They have won series away from home against both Oregon State and UCLA.

This week saw the addition of four new teams to the AP Top 25 rankings, including Oregon, who returned to the rankings at No. 20 after sweeping Washington and moving into a first-place tie with Oregon State. TCU, who swept the previous No. 4 opponent, Texas Tech climbed back into the rankings at No. 21 after posting a record of 10-5 in Big 12 play. After sweeping a pivotal Sun Belt series against Georgia State, Maryland moved up one spot to No. 24, and Georgia Southern debuted in the rankings for the new season at No. 25. Both teams’ accomplishments led to their ascent in the rankings.

After suffering losses over the weekend, Arizona, Florida, Alabama, and Ole Miss all dropped out of the Top 25 rankings.

Editors from D1 Baseball and writers from throughout the country collaborate to compile the Top 25 rankings.
